Breakdown Of Costs For Travelling 2013 – 2014

Ok so the reason for this page is because many people have asked me the famous question:

“How much did it cost to go backpacking in 8 months to USA, New Zealand and South Asia?”.

Below are the costs and I must stress they include everything like car hire, food, accommodation, internal flights etc.

COSTS

 

Flight Tickets = £1300 (booked with Around the world experts)

(UK – Washington DC (made own way to LA) – LA – Auckland – Hong Kong – UK)

 

Netbook (2nd hand) = £105

Sleeping bag = £15

Travel Insurance (outbacker) = £205

Camera = £100

 

USA for 3 months  = £4098

New Zealand for 4 months (earnt £1000 working and free accommodation for 3 months so included this) = £2755

Hong Kong (2 days) Thailand (1 month) Singapore (3 days)  = £1588

Additional flights purchased from Singapore – UK (as we wanted to come back early) = £300

 

TOTAL: £10466
