The place of Gondolas, Bridges, Cornettos and RED WINE AT 0.89 euro for a litre! On this trip we rode on a Gondola under the small bridges along the canals of Venice. So we come here every year, however this was the first time we were here in the Christmas month. There were old fashioned decorations everywhere. Greens, golds, reds galore. Although bands weren’t as good as weekend ones, this was still really Christmassy especially with our Christmas Jumpers [read here].

So after travelling for 8 months we were in need of a good old British Beer Festival. This was our second time here. The many testers, the hunt for Santa in his Hawaiian top, the corn on the cob and of course the rock band at the end – this was our time at the FROSTER BEER FESTIVAL [Read here].
So before I went away I looked on other sites to find out what I should take away with me travelling. Since I have completed my 8 month experience, I have now done my own list. Here is all the useful stuff I learnt to take / not to take whilst away [read here].
I love weird museums like Ripley’s Believe It Or not etc…so when we had the chance to go to a Trick Eye Museum, I had to do it. This museum has paintings in 3D making it look as though you are in them. It features props n all sorts. Its the only time I got to ride a sleigh, dangle off a cliff, climb a bamboo stick and sit on an elephants trunk all in one day! [read more]
Sure we have them in Edinburgh…but we wanted to see them in Asia! We got to experience an amazing River Safari with lots of different river sections from around the world. We got wet riding a log flume and of course saw the amazing Pandas named Kai Kai and Jia Jia’s [read here].
So here were were in Koi Samui n our accommodation was a hut in the jungle. We showered with ants, swam with dragon flies, drank tea in a cliff hut n witnessed many Buddhas…this was our time in Koi Samui! [read here]
So with a bad back it was time to experience the Thai Massage in our resort. Cracked toes, knees in the back n plenty of oil – this is my experience [read here].

It was muddy n Wet and this experience was amazing! We skidded all over the place on the Quad whilst we went down muddy hills n threw small rivers…oh and my brakes didnt work! This was then followed by zip – lining n crashing into a tree. Great fun! [read more]

So it had to be done! Whilst in Phuket we got our ringside tickets, sat back and then watched 7 years kick shite out of each other and then the elders had fights afterwards. Great atmosphere (read here)
This was my 2nd time to Bangkok. This time saw us eating bugs, riding tuktuks, witnessing live sex shows, eating KFC in a deaf branch and buying stuff whilst riding on a boat on the floating markets. I love Bangkok everytime I go! (read more)
We witnessed the big Tian Tan Buddha, ate noodles n fried eggs, got hassled by the Indian sales people and witnessed the light display which was not so great. (read here)
So whilst in Auckland we so had to go to the top of the Skytower and dangle over the edge of it at 328 feet high = I mean that’s what everyone does right? lol. Harnessed in we walked, dangled and sat over the edge of the Skytower. Scary but satisfying! (read here)
I ate Bambi giant burgers, jumped over gym balls and rooms full of balloons in the Odessey sensory Maze, had a drink next to a tree with speakers built into it and of course witnessed the beautiful scenery surrounding this place. Loved Queenstown (read here)
I’d always wanted to see wildlife in their natural habitat and Dunedin seemed to be one of the places to do this. We saw Seals on the rocks, got about a meter away from Sea Lions on the beach and witnessed the rarest penguin in the world come in from the sea and walk to his home [read here]
So our next stop in New Zealand was Wellington aka the home of alot of the scenes filmed in Lord Of The Rings. The tour included sights such as Helms Deep and lunch at Rivendell. We got to be wizards and I became the bow n arrow hero better known as Legolas (read here)
So cruising outside of Rotorura we come across a place called “Kerosene Creek”. Down a dirt road path revealed a cool stream that then led to a waterfall and pool that was naturally hot due to the underground thermal activity. It was like having your own hot tub in a river! Whilst in Rotoura it was time for a Polynesian Spa in the private rockpool over looking the lake. It was hot, cool scenery and relaxing . It was then time for erupting Geysers and volcanic activity at the Wai – O -Tapu thermal wonderground – WOW (read here)
So after working in Tauranga, it was now time to explore more of New Zealand. Our next stop was Rotorura where we experienced many things…one of which was a Maori evening of sticking out tongues, chants and a forest with games. It was time to participate in the famous “Maori” dance done at rugby games etc (read here)
Living in Tauranga for around 3 months was rather cool. We got jobs as cleaners and I was Nightwarden in the hostel meaning we had the best room in the place and got to save money for our travels. So it was time to stop off in Tauranga in New Zealand to get some more cash. Kiwi picking was the way forward…2 months later I have been bitten, rained on, lower back problems, purchased a new cowboy hat and been a sweaty betty in my clothes. Heres my story of my kiwi picking experience (read here)

This was another item on my bucket list. We paddled down a river in the darkness with only a small lamp attached to our instructors head who was in front of us. Animals n Insects could be heard all around us until the Glow Worm Cave revealed itself..LOTS of the little feckers! [read here]
