Transcription is very important because it allows us to record what we play or have thought in written form, which then allows for other musicians and arrangers to read and play. The key factor here is that this is a way of preservation, without having to go through the actual sound recording process. With transcriptions, you’re able to import the entire score into a DAW and use whatever instruments you’d like while also performing live edition. While studying, I had to transcribe a lot of different genres. Some of my past projects include transcribing the entire OST of a Pokémon game for GameBoy Color, piano tracks, choirs and folk music. I currently transcribe a lot for the project “Voice4Him”, of which I’m an active part of. My transcriptions are created using several software like Notion, Sibelius and MuseScore. Most of my current projects are related to Gospel/Christian, Classical, Jazz and Pop genres.
