Stockholm

Rate out of 10: 5 – This place has unique “clubs” here and the blackjack tables in the clubs are a great way to win extra cash fo ryour night out 😉

Funniest /most memorable moment: Climbing buildings and “Bike” riding awhilst drunk. Clubbing in a shopping mall!

Stockholm / Sweden was said to be a very beautiful place to visit. Me and Bob decided it’s one of those must do places. We had heard however that it was very expensive!

We went to Stockholm for a weekend. We spent out days walking about having pics taken with the statues, and then going to some of the bars.  We found the river that was completely frozen over.. So much that someone had managed to write their name in it (how they actually got to the middle of this ice river is another story).  Lots of glaciers too!

oh and we saw our first ever Ryanair Bus (We love Ryanair as this is who we fly through all the time )

We found a place with a pool table and it wasn’t long until some local old guys wanted to play us. They looked abit drunk but also had that “we come in here all the time” kinda feel to them.

We started playing and gradually kicked their ass until it came to potting the black…the black was lined up for a perfect pot in the middle when just before I took the shot one of the guys decided to state that we were playing Swedish rules meaning I had to pot the black in the same bag as what my last ball went into…now normally back in the UK you state what rules you play and they stated we don’t mind! When they saw I was about to win the game they then decided to make it more difficult for us to win. With the bag I needed to pot completely out of view we decided to let them have it and they won.. However “cheats” spring to mind.

If I’m honest not much to do in the day here, however the night is a different ball game. First day we were there we were walking and found this bar that just opened and had dance music playing in it. It was empty however seemed the most livelily place to visit. We stayed in there and the music was awesome..We had a few then chatted to the owner who stated to come back later as it was free in and lively. We headed back got glammed up and headed back out to that bar. When we arrived it was rammed. We soon had a few beers and were dancing on the dance floor. One little touch which id have never saw before was the fact that they have a portable blackjack table in the corner of the club. I got chatting to the girl behind it who told us it was about £1 to play. It seemed simple so we played and I was winning then I lost. However very addictive!

We got chatting to some of the locals, had our pics taken with them then went back.

The next night we wanted to test out the other part of town where all the “fashionable” bars were supposed to be open as it was Saturday. We got glammed up drank some of the cans of local beerin the hotel and headed out.

We went into this one place where footballers etc are supposed to go. Straight away the clientele in there were kinda stuck up. All new each other and all dressed in suits. Wasn’t really our scene as the music was shite too.  We got chatting to some local folk and they offered to take us under their wing and show us this cool club where everyone goes.  They led us to this huge building where there was a cue of people. . . standing outside this place I looked at it and thought it kinda reminded me of a shopping mall.. I told Bob and the girl who was with us overhead and said “it is actually a shopping mall”. Now I thought she was kiddin around until we got through the entrance. ..it was actually a fecking shopping mall ! It was so cool. The shops were all closed and one of the main bars downstairs was open where all the licker was served, and out in the corridors of the mall they had Djs and you danced in the corridors. Was very strange raving in a shopping mall however great at the same time. After a few dances to the likes of “castle in the sky” and “Shorty get low low low” we headed back.

Now on the last day (Sunday) we had heard about a club that may have been the only place open on a Sunday. We wandered into the surrounding area with not a single person in site. We found an open bar and we were the only ones there. Things weren’t looking good. It was 9:30am and decided to leave and find this so called club. We found it..again first ones there..greeted by a bouncer…we got it and WOW.. this place kinda looked like a church inside. Looked rather classy. We stayed in there and then all of a sudden lots of people started to come in. Now once the DJ started at the front, this place lit up. I think it was the  Sturecompagniet club . The dj played a lot of well know trance / dance so we loved it.  Only problem was is that this place was expensive for drinks. Now luckily I glanced around and saw the same blackjack table with the same bird in the corner of this club instead. I decided to attempt to get some money for me and Bob by doubling our money. I played, Bob helped where he could and before we knew it..we were winning. I won’t bore you with too much detail but I will tell you we walked away from that table with triple the amount we had played with. I think I put a tenner down so £30! This was great towards our drinks!

Now on the walk home from this club we were pissed. We managed to “find” this bike and tried to ride it but it wouldn’t ride. I can’t go into too much detail here however all I can say is that the walk home involved lots of newspaper, Bob climbing on top of small building and falling into bins and us trying to pay for a kebab with a “free chewing gum” voucher we had found earlier (its the pic with me holding voucher). It was one of the more “funny” walks home me and Bob have ever had haha.

So in Summary…Stockholm is the most expensive place we have been to. We paid £10 for kebab and around £6 for a pint. This place has now beaten Dublin Prices which is saying a lot! Oh and to those who say this place has the most beautiful women in the world in it…I think you need to visit other places as that aint true 😉
