Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection and community. The annual observance of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon. Muslims believe that the Quran was sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during the month of Ramadan, and fasting during Ramadan is thus an obligation for all able Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking and sex from dawn to dusk. Fasting is intended to teach Muslims about patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God. It is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual. The word "Ramadan" comes from the Arabic root ramiḍa or ar-ramaḍ, which means scorching heat or dryness.
Ramadan Mubarak 2018 services are provided by many companies and organizations in order to help those who are fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. These services can include providing food and water, setting up tents for prayer, and offering other services to help make the fast more comfortable.
As the Muslim holy month of Ramadan comes to a close, Muslims in the UAE are preparing for Eid al-Fitr, the three-day celebration that marks the end of the fasting period. Eid al-Fitr is a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate. It is also a time for giving to those in need and for performing acts of charity. This year, Eid al-Fitr falls on June 15, 2018.
