LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. Founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking. As of 2015, LinkedIn had more than 400 million members in over 200 countries and territories.

As of 2015, most of the company's revenue came from selling access to information about its members to recruiters and sales professionals. As of April 2017, LinkedIn had 500 million members in 200 countries, out of which approximately 106 million were active monthly.

Although LinkedIn has many features that can be useful for both individuals and businesses, it is not without its flaws. For example, LinkedIn's search engine is not as robust as those of other social networking sites, making it difficult to find old connections or new ones outside of your immediate network. Additionally, LinkedIn's user interface can be cluttered and difficult to navigate, particularly for users who are not familiar with social networking sites. Despite these drawbacks, LinkedIn remains a popular and useful tool for networking, job searching, and business promotion.
